Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 12, 2026
This policy explains what information is collected when you visit getwhispa.com (the "Site") or use the Whispa macOS application (the "App"), how it is used, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it the way we write everything else: plainly.
1. Who we are
Whispa is operated by Business Whispa LLC ("we", "us"). For anything privacy-related, contact us at jasonroylancer@gmail.com.
2. Information collected on the Site
- Email address (optional). If you choose to enter your email in the download form, we store it to send you occasional product update announcements. The form is processed by Netlify Forms (our hosting provider). You can download the App without providing an email, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically records basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, which is standard for operating any website and is used for security and reliability.
- Advertising and analytics. We may use Google Ads conversion tracking and similar measurement tools to understand whether our advertising works. These tools may set cookies or use similar technologies. You can learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
3. Information processed by the App
- Audio. The App records audio from your microphone only while you hold the dictation hotkey. The recording is sent over an encrypted connection to a third-party transcription provider — OpenAI or Deepgram — solely to convert it to text, and is not stored by us. The providers process audio under their own terms: OpenAI policies, Deepgram privacy.
- Transcription text. A brief AI cleanup pass (e.g. punctuation and filler removal) may be applied via the same providers before the text is placed at your cursor.
- History. Your dictation history is stored locally on your Mac only. We have no servers that store your transcriptions, and no account system.
- No telemetry. The App does not include analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
4. How information is used
- To provide the App's core function: turning your speech into text.
- To send product update announcements to emails voluntarily provided (you can opt out at any time).
- To measure advertising performance and keep the Site secure and reliable.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Sharing
Personal information is shared only with the service providers needed to operate Whispa: Netlify (hosting and form processing), OpenAI and Deepgram (transcription of audio you initiate), and Google (advertising measurement), each acting under their own published terms. We may also disclose information if required by law.
6. Data retention
Emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Audio is processed in transit and not retained by us. Local history stays on your device until you delete it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email jasonroylancer@gmail.com — since the only personal data we typically hold is an email address, requests are usually simple to fulfil.
8. Children
The Site and App are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
